BOX OF ROCKS
Meg Kelso
08.12.23 - 18.12.23

An exploration of memory and observation, fragmentation and reconstruction- both conceptually and as way of making. With each piece involving a layering of processes, the works naturally process and inform each other though the materials and mediums oscillate. Contagiously installed together this body of work hopes to link somewhat displaced imagery and moments to create a network of meaningful connections.

Informed by process art and materiality, Meg Kelso’s making seeks harmony between the physicality of the medium and intuitive formation. Negotiating these material forms, Kelso’s creative research draws largely on personal memory; how it is found, fragmented and reconstructed - and how this shapes her interior landscape.

BOX OF ROCKS [PREVIEW]
A collaboration between ambient producer Barley and artist Meg Kelso, with video edited by Green Floor Gallery.

Delving into the auditory dimension of the exhibition, an ethereal symphony of ambient soundscapes emerged through a harmonious collaboration between Green Floor Gallery, ambient producer Barley, and the artistic ingenuity of Meg Kelso. This audio masterpiece, carefully woven into the fabric of the exhibition, unfurls a captivating narrative that transcends traditional artistic boundaries.

The soundscape, resonating through the gallery, narrates a poetic tale of memory and temporality. Each note, a reverberation of moments during installation, becomes a vessel carrying the essence of the creative process. The soundtrack transforms the exhibition into a sensory journey.

The collaboration stands as a testament to the power of interdisciplinary art, enriching the exhibition's narrative. The ambient sounds become an integral part of the viewer's engagement, inviting them to traverse their own memories. The result is an ephemeral dance of art and time, where the soundtrack becomes a dynamic companion, guiding the audience through a captivating exploration of past and present.
