INT.
Peta  Treble

02.08.24 - 06.08.24

Memories stain walls. Experiences cast themselves as shadows. You catch a glimpse of yourself in someone else’s mirror then realise it was an old film on free to air tv.

INT. is an exploration of how our sense of self ties into our sense of place. How memories superimpose themselves onto physical locations, changing their landscape with every visit.

Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Victorian College of the Arts (Sculpture and Spatial Studies), Peta Treble (she/they) is a Naarm based artist who works primarily through combining video, sound, sculpture and performance. Utilising a mixture of their own body, readymade and distorted household objects, as well as an array of in-camera and analogue cinematic techniques, she produces works that interrogate the individual’s processes of objectification, personification and systemisation. Reflecting on how these concepts relate to our perception of selves and the world around us, Treble consistently engages with a diverse range of creative practitioners  in order to bridge the divide between disciplines - collaborating with the likes of dancers, actors, musicians, painters and filmmakers.
