You Can’t Hang Out Forever
Slippy Mane

8.11.24-12.11.24

You Can't Hangout Forever by Slippy Mane reflects on the cycle of partying, where moments of fun and excitement eventually fade into feelings of melancholy. While some pieces capture the thrill of the party, the focus is on the quieter aftermath—the sense of isolation and reflection that comes after the excitement ends. Featuring vibrant, 90s-inspired cartoon imagery in acrylic paint and soft pastel, Slippy Mane contrasts bright, playful visuals with subtle themes of alcohol, drug use, and the emotional ebb that follows, offering a thoughtful take on the experience of excess and self-indulgence.

Slippy Mane is a visual artist and musician whose work bridges the vibrant nostalgia of 90s cartoons and video games with deeper, melancholic themes. Born in Santiago, Chile, and raised in Melbourne/Naarm, Slippy Mane draws from the colorful aesthetics of childhood to create visually stunning pieces, often filled with bright hues and playful motifs like clouds. However, beneath these whimsical surfaces lies a sad or dark undertone, evoking a sense of contrast and complexity.

Having been immersed in both the music and visual art worlds for some time, Slippy Mane's creative expression embodies a unique balance of sound and imagery. Inspired by graffiti, retro animation, and video game culture, his art captivates with its bright energy while inviting introspection. Whether through music or visual work, Slippy Mane continues to explore the dynamic between joy and sorrow, creating a deeply emotional and visually striking body of work.
